Gross Indecency
Directed by Brian Pastor
A remount of Promethean’s acclaimed 2016 production, GROSS INDECENCY: THE THREE TRIALS OF OSCAR WILDE takes a modern look at the life of the 19th century literary figure who was both glorified and shunned during his lifetime, eventually imprisoned and convicted of the crime of homosexuality. The play features an ensemble of actors following documents from the past to uncover the story and bring Wilde and his contemporaries to life. Audiences who didn’t have a chance to see the “fast-moving and compelling” (THIRD COAST REVIEW) production two years ago will have another opportunity to witness Jamie Bragg’s “witty, charming and fierce” performance (EDGE MEDIA NETWORK) as Oscar Wilde. “See it – for the wit, the quotes, the poetry and beauty… see it.” (THE HAWK CHICAGO).
In the hands of an extraordinary cast, Wilde’s life and wit and society’s cruelty and hypocrisy are brought to vivid life.

Chicago Theatre Review
It is, in so many ways, the figurative middle finger to the society that Wilde admonished in his work, the same society that stripped him of his dignity. Take all of that, dress it up in a hodgepodge of punk-inspired attire and you’ve got yourself an interesting night of theater.

New City Stage
Delightfully modern and sinfully Victorian, it invites us to consider how far we have or have not come in the ensuing 100-plus years as a society, and it does so charmingly, just as Wilde would have wanted it.
Kim Campbell
Third Coast Review
The ensemble is excellent as a whole….The design team too is outstanding. This is a real team effort, and it pays off.
